Through His Eyes
We woke up and drove to the campground cafe for breakfast. I got a breakfast sandwich and a smoothie. JJ had coffee and a breakfast burrito.
We knew the museum opened at 10 a.m. We took a walk down the path because I heard that this park has Class II rapids.
We found them, they were beautiful BUT this was where all the mosquitoes were hiding during the day. We speed walked...well ok...we jogged/ran back to the car. At least we were really close to the museum.
The Dali Museum was really awesome. It showed a robust collection including some of his early works, surreal pieces and his later works (atomic and religion).
We had an audio tour because it was included with admission. It was personal iPod. All you had to do was poke a painting on the screen and it would give you all the info about it.
I really learned a lot and it inspired me. I asked the security guard if we missed the Disney/Dali exhibition and he said yes. I was a bit down that if we went our original route, we would have been able to catch it. J.J. saved the day though. He noticed that when we backed out of the audio tour, there was a tour for the Disney/Dali one. I listened and looked at all it offered. I was so thrilled to be able to still catch it, even if it wasn't in physical form. We went to the gift shop to pick up a patch and a mug.
After that, on the way to a cheap hotel, we went to Cigar City Brewery in Tampa. They had a lot more hoppier varieties. We each ordered a flight. There was a food truck outside and J.J. got sandwiches. We finished with 2 Florida Cracker beers (one for each) and started North.
We settled at the Rodeway Inn is the best yet. For 50 bucks, it was like living in a studio apartment with a king bed. The King Bedroom was cheaper online than separate or smaller beds. There was a convenience store nearby and we got beers, drinks and snacks then settled in the hotel room for the night.
Mermaids tomorrow!!
