No Wonder You're Extinct!
We woke up and had free breakfast at the hotel. Decent! We hopped on I-4 and we were only around 10 minutes from to Dinosaur World. I went there with no expectations but JJ was hyped because he wasn't able to go to it when he was younger. I was pleasantly surprised! There were a ton of size appropriate dinosaur statues.
A few of them, I didn't even know that they existed ( I actually see myself knowledgeable about dinos, so this surprised me). They had a fossil museum. We enjoyed strolling in, looking at everything. I took my little Dr. Who Dalek figurine on the road trip with me because I wanted to use it at Dinosaur World. It was so much fun! It was like a photo shoot using miniatures and it came out really well.
Went to the gift shop and picked up a patch. I've been picking up patches through different attractions because I want to make a Florida pillow or something crafty. After the trip, I'm going to have to go online and buy the ones i missed.
The Florida Aquarium was a few minutes away, we paid parking and parked a little ways off. The first section was of the aquarium was Florida waters. It was really cool to see the fish that's always here. Then it had a coral reef section, a sea dragon/sea horse section and a huge tank.
People can snorkel and scuba that humongous tank for a fair amount of money. They were some sand tiger sharks, nurse sharks and some sea turtles among so many fish. I could spend all day here. We watched a show. My favorite place after the sharks with the little octopus tank.
These guys are so smart. We walked up to a tank, a small octopus in there. When it was just me and J.J., it was chilling on the bottom all relaxed. Then a group of people showed up and started to crowd him. He got anxious to start crawling up the wall and it grabbed his little plastic toy on the top of the tank and it just cuddled it. This is the cutest and saddest thing to see, the little octopus cuddle because he was stressed.
We decided to just walk away and leave him be and maybe see him up when we're leaving. It was true, on our way out, we were alone again and he finally was letting go of that cute that little toy.
I also saw some seahorses cuddling together. It was super cute so I snapped some pics.
After saying we'll just visit the Dali Museum tomorrow, we found a campsite open late and headed to the gift shop. Found a super cute squid hat that looks adorable on me so I bought it and a patch.
It was raining when we got to the Hillsborough State Park and they allowed us to just drive in there and find the campsite that we wanted. The first one we wanted was already reserved for someone else. We were given the one next to it but it was a huge swamp because tof the rain so we got another spot. When we got to it, all the dirt parts were flooded but behind the log boundary, there were pine needles that would make for a good tent area. So we set up camp there and we got settled. Some Rangers drove by and they didn't have a problem with it but right before dusk, a ranger came up and told us that we had to move the tent into the boundary. Dusk is when you want to be settled and in your tent. Dusk is when the bugs really come out. So we very quicklymoved the line, tent and tarps and jumped back inside before the bugs got too bad. I know we were in the wrong but we weren't disturbing anything..We cooked hash and ramen soup and we got to relax.
It was a very pretty park when everything is not covered in rain. I heard there were rapids here but we'll check it out tomorrow morning
