Shells, Shells Everywhere
We started off after coffee. We drove to Sanibel Island. The sand wasn't sand but shells. Shells everywhere. We found 2 starfish but they were alive. Most of the shells were picked through but we found a few a few cool ones.
Couldn't stay too long because we didn't want to pay the minimum $4.00 for parking meter. Plus, it wasn't very sunny out so I didn't want to spend all morning there. After leaving the island, we were driving from 41 to 17. My grandparents first and then the go to Bok Tower and Spook Hill.
Got to Davenport and they welcomed us in.We hung for a while, just relaxing together. A nice surprise happened. Turns out my cousin Heather and her children were visiting in a few moments too! Haven't seen her in forever. My grandparents loved J.J. My grandmother told J.J. that he was a good man. Also, if we hear wedding bells, they want an invitation. I believe my checks were red the whole walk to the car. It was very sweet. She really wanted us to stay for supper and spend the night but we politely declined. Lots of hugs and kisses, we left them with Heather and her family.
We misread the Bok Tower's hours so we missed getting in but we did see the tower so it still counts. We park and I wanted to see if I could walk in and just snap a few pics. Turns that you can set off an alarm when you do that. A fairly loud alarm that everybody can hear. I kind of looked at the gate said "really?", walked back to my car and we left. I really didn't want to be there when the authorities came. We'll go back to the tower in the future, I still want to see the garden.
Also caught the Spook Hill gravity illusion. It's a place on the road where you put your car in neutral, it rolls backwards but you feel like you're going up the hill. It's a neat trick once you realize you supposed to go backwards.
We took 60 West to Brent Brandon then decided to go to Lakeland for a cheap hotel. Tomorrow is Dinosaur World. We found a cheap campsite nearby, maybe we'll get it.
