Is it the Devil's Hopyard?
What J.J. and I like to do when we're in a new state is look online and generally look a few websites showing the best in the area as well as the websites that show the hidden gems. We tend to enjoy the hidden gems more.
So when the name of Devil's Hopyard came under my radar, my interest was piqued! There's a bunch of local legends starting with the Native Americans that lived around the forest and the falls, saying there was a forest god. The Puritans took the myth and replaced it with demons and devils. A shame really. Now there's devil's footprints in the water and strange voices heard randomly in the woods.
Now, to be honest, I did not know about all these rumors when we went. I just heard that there was a beautiful waterfall, so we were game!
We head there and park. Chapman falls is super close to where we parked I have to say that Chapman Falls were just beautiful! We walked down the stairs and down the rocks to get a better view of the 60 ft cascading waterfall.
It would be the perfect location to have a picnic or relax after work.
After a while, we went on and explored more of the park. They offer camping by a stream and there were pavilions to have parties.
There are hiking trails to explore and fish to catch!
Whenever we go to Connecticut again, we will come back!
