Hi!

Welcome to my blog! I document my travel adventures. Flying to new locations, taking old-fashioned road trips and backpacking through iconic trails are some of the many stories I want to share. Come for the pictures and stay for the inspiration!

Day 2 - June 11th

We woke up early and made our way to Beauty's Luncheonette.  JJ ordered the MishMash, which had eggs, bacon, sausage, hot dogs (i know, weird, right) and other meats all mixed together and I ordered the Salmon Bagel. I thought I wouldn't like it because its a toasted locally-made bagel, cream cheese and a slab of salmon. It was tasty as hell. Lots of Metro and walking. Walking the whole trip pretty much.

We decided to head to Port Montreal for the Museum of Archaeology initally. When we got out, we found ourselves in the outskirts of Chinatown. I got souvenirs there. I have a goal that every big city that has a Chinatown, I visit there and buy a trinket with my sign, the rat, on it. We then went to Notre Dame basilica. Oh my God. It so beautiful! All those paintings, statues and glass windows. People were praying it to some paintings and statues. JJ prayed to St. Joseph and I said a prayer to Mary. We also sat, keeled in the pews and prayed in the main area. Off we went, touring the city. We get to the Archaeology Museum.

We were interested in two segments. Montreal was built on top of the remains of the original city of Montreal,  preserving it. Then there was an Aztec collection! However, I did not see the no picture signs so I had the security person tell me no more pictures. I was a little embarrassed but on the plus side I got pics when I wouldn't have.

Leaving the museum, I got to take a picture of the St. Lawrence River.

Off we went to Mont Royal. Metro, then bus then walking a few miles to get to the summit. My God, beautiful. As I got my shots in, JJ played his harmonica. We noticed pianos around town. Anyone can play them. That is awesome. We waited a long time for the bus to come back. Because of this, the Museum of Fine Art was closing as we walked to buy tickets. I am not going to feel bad because this whole town is covered in art.

After that we took the metro to Au Pied de Cochon which is the foot of the pig. Gave us nice sparkling water, the bread warm. The entree we both ordered was the Foie gras poutine. The taste was incomparable to what I've had and magnificent! The service was great and we felt really welcome.

After dinner, we went to the Chocolatier next door. I picked up a pistachio piece and a carob piece. ^.^ What a excellent desert! Jeff got a Earl Grey piece and a ginger chocolate piece. We both shared each others' pieces and compared the ones we liked.

We walked to the Metro and got a little bit lately, we got off to get an orange julep. We crossed a highway and JJ asked me when I'll know when we're there. I pointed at the GIANT orange a block away. Orange Julep Gibeau's giant orange. It was a homing beacon of sorts. They were hosting a motorcycle meet up and it was pretty busy. We got a julep to splitand it was very good! Orange juice with light cream. Jump back on the Metro.

Traveled to a Montreal Brewery, Dieu du Ciel. Two flights of trying different local beers. Very interesting tastes. We were feeling good as we walked over to Schwartz's. Oh my God, famous smoked meat sandwiches are huge Reubens. Easily the best corned beef sandwiches I ever had. I wish we visited there everyday. After enjoying the festival on St. Laurent, we were deciding to walk to La Banquise, but it was another 14 blocks.  I grabbed a taxi instead. Ordered a bacon poutine. La Banquise is like a Dennys but with much better food.

After it was given to us, we found that our taxi was waiting for us and he drove us back to the hostel. The poutine was awesome, so much bacon! Going to pass out. I really hope we get everything done on the way. I'm having an amazing time.

So much walking. I don't mind it though, there's so much to see. I like just getting up and going places.
